The strong, interesting characters and political intrigue more than make up for what could have been another standard fantasy plot. It was kind of refreshing to read a character driven epic fantasy novel instead of a purely plot driven one.

The story of Gregor Eisenhorn, Imperial Inquisitor. Set in the massive Warhammer: 40k universe and written by Dan Abnett. This is an excellent work of fiction that details the adventures of Eisenhorn and his descent from pure believer to heretic. For anyone who has either played Warhammer: 40k or just loves great science fiction.
